It’s not easy growing up, particularly if you happen to be a young Norse god. Young Thor invites players to experience the titular deity’s coming of age as a side scrolling beat-em-up in the convenient, bite-sized format of a PSP Mini.
Fat Princess had an awkward time squeezing through the PSN’s door. The single-player experience was overshadowed by the multiplayer and the multiplayer suffered from the usual ailments most downloadable titles on the PSN suffer from. However, despite a lack of people playing and a few server issues the game was an absolute darling. Adorable art, combined with a cute premise and solid execution, the game should have been a runaway hit. Sony’s coming back for seconds this time with a snack-sized edition available for the Playstation Portable and this time it’s got legs.
People have a lot of different ideas about how best to use a jetpack. Some were selfish, some were selfless and some were just plain weird. We had a lot of really clever submissions to our Rocket Knight contest, but because there is only one code to be had most will walk away saddened.

You couldn’t buy a game in the 1990’s without seeing a couple dozen cutesy cartoon mascots with attitude plastered on game store shelves. Sparkster may not be the most well known game mascot of all time, but when Konami’s Nobuya Nakazato was tasked with creating their own adorable character they certainly came up with the coolest idea; a steampunk-jetpack toting, magic sword swinging, opossum. Now, 16 years after its last appearance on a console the Rocket Knight returns, revamped for the XBLA.
Recently Microsoft discontinued Xbox Live service for original Xbox consoles and games. There was commentary that the discontinuation would allow the service to evolve ‘new features and experiences that fully harness the community’ with ‘unprecedented flexibility for future features.’ So now, of course, the speculation follows as to what the future of Xbox Live could hold. In fact this speculation can be extended beyond Xbox Live to other online gaming networks and we can attempt to project the trajectory for the industry.
Q Entertainment, the defacto Playstation Network developer released a lovely little tower defense game called Pixel Junk Monsters way back in 2008 with several iterations improving on the game across both PS3 and PSN. It’s been a long time coming, but PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe is finally available on UMD for all those PSP owners who haven’t upgraded to the PSP Go or downloaded the game on their PS3.
For all the praise Uncharted 2’s single player earned last year, not as much was said about the multiplayer. At the time it wasn’t certain if 6 months down the line there would be much of a community playing it. With the release of the Uncharted 2 Siege Expansion, Naughty Dog has proven that not only is there an avid Uncharted 2 community playing the game regularly, but they’re hungry for new content too.
