It’s been a long wait for Halo fans to get a true sequel, and despite getting 2 spin-off games between Halo 3 and Halo Reach excitement could not mount any higher. With the beta releasing on May 3rd for Halo 3: ODST owners Microsoft invited us down for some early hands-on time with the game. Despite the core Halo experience’s absence from Xbox 360 disc trays it’s important to remember, “Spartans never die, they’re just missing in action.”
Congratulations NachoBoss, Radical Dylan, Lwfoster and Justin! You’re all the proud owners of a brand new Flaming Warthog for your Halo Wars game! Keep an eye on your inbox, the codes to download them off Xbox Live Marketplace should be hitting you soon. Remember, GeneralGames.ca has plenty of contests to enter, so don’t forget to keep your eyes open and you too could be a winner.
I’ve been playing Halo Wars regularly since it’s launch, and really enjoy it’s multi-player game-play. Its a nice break from sepia-toned FPS games and third-person action-adventures which have been dominating lately. The most popular online playlist by far is Three-versus-Three matches though this mode only has three compatible maps available for play. Most RTS games focus heavily on multiplayer and as such come with an abundance of multiplayer content like a wide variety of maps.
Considering the most popular playlist had the fewest maps, Robot Entertainment produced the Historic Battles map pack which is sold for 800MSP. It contains four new maps for multiplayer. Two One-versus-One maps, and one map for Two-versus-Two and Three-versus-Three respectively. Thats great. Most people who play this game play the multiplayer a lot and could use some more variety in maps so at face value this DLC seems like a great idea.
Congratulations to o0 Harmonic 0o you are our lucky Halo Wars prize pack winner! You should be receiving an e-mail shortly requesting your address so we can ship the prize out to you. As for the rest of you, your submissions were greatly appreciated but there could only be one. All entrants however are entitled to a Flaming Warthog! The first 10 to send an e-mail to justin@generalgames.ca will receive a code for the limited edition vehicle. Also, along with the Gears of War MMOG submission we’ve posted an additional Photoshoped franchise genre cross below.
Ensemble Studio’s doors may have closed, but support for their last game continues. Halo Wars will be seeing new downloadable content in the next few weeks. The Strategic Options Add-On will bring 3 unique new multiplayer modes, mixing it up from the conventional, as well as an additional four achievements tied to the modes that are worth a total of 100 gamerscore.
