If there were a Zodiac calendar for gaming, this would undoubtedly be the year of the motion controller. With both Project Natal on the Xbox 360 releasing this holiday and Nintendo’s near monopolistic share of the motion controller market, Sony’s got a few challenges if it plans to carve a place for itself amongst all the competition.
Today in a special pre-PAX East event Sony let hundreds of Playstation fans get their hands on the Playstation Move and a few of it’s launch window titles for the first time. The tiny space was flooded with ravenous gamers looking to give Sliders, Move Party, and Sports Champions a try. It was a tough, elbow-bumping battle but GeneralGames.ca was on-scene to get a hands-on with the Playstation Move.
Gaming is full of pilgrimages; from The Oregon Trail to ChuChu Rocket! there are plenty of video games that center around the theme of travel. In essence really, a large majority of games can be reduced to a commentary on the protagonist’s quest for a promise land. This week I’ll be that protagonist as I saddle up and head down to the southern province of America to join PAX East 2010 in Boston Massachusetts.
Keep an eye on the site over the next few days as I’ll be posting tons of interviews and previews from all the major publishers attending the convention. Also, keep tuned to Xbox.ca/Community as I’ll be sending some exclusive articles their way too. It’s going to be a wild ride, I’ve already got plenty of appointments booked but if you have any requests or suggestions on what to check out feel free to leave comments below. Wish me luck!
