Players are finally given the opportunity to control their own zombie invasion, because what better seat than the driver’s to be in during the inevitable apocalypse?

Saturday November 14th game fans from all across Southern Ontario descended upon the Strathcona Hotel in downtown Toronto to help celebrate the holidays with GeneralGames.ca by raising money for Child’s Play while having a great time. The event was a casual affair with drinks, food, a live chiptunes concert and of course games.
The names David and Ian Purchase may not sound familiar and you may not be familiar with their work, but these Torontonian brothers have given game enthusiasts a reason to stand up and take notice. Escape From City 17 is an in-development series of shorts directed and produced by the duo that takes the oppressive environments of Half-Life 2 and brings them to life in a stunning interpretation of the game. The first episode in the series was released back in February but a new cut of the short is making it’s rounds on the internet and has yet to lose it’s impact. Half-Life fans and dystopia lovers take note; it may only be a single 4-minute video, but this has the makings of a great series.
Canadian Xbox fans love signing red accessories
We at GeneralGames.ca, have been quite active in the Xbox Canada community for a long while and it has really been getting stronger with each year so we thought it would be a great idea to organize a community social. Saturday, November 14th come out to the Strathcona Hotel Bar in downtown Toronto and join us for food and drink. He may look like a typical geek avoiding the crowd with his Gameboy, but Jefftheworld is the reason hundreds of Torontonians ignored the planned art of Nuit Blanche and enjoyed some original chiptunes. If you’ve never heard the term before don’t be surprised, it’s an underground music movement that holds it’s roots in the 8-bit gaming systems of the 1980’s. Musicians use the ancient hardware to produce a unique type of electronic music that conjures both a sense of nostalgia and the awakening of discovering something completely new.
Jo Clowes, Director of Development on 1 vs 100 was kind enough to sit down with us and answer some questions about the upcoming exclusive Canadian Beta that launches this Friday May 8th at 10:00 PM EST. The game will be available exclusively to all Canadian Xbox Live Gold members and can be found in the dashboard in the brand new Primetime channel later this week.
Almost a year ago Microsoft announced Xbox Live Primetime then went silent about it. There was precious little news about it. Many began wondering if it had died a quiet, lonely, death. Then, late last month it was announced that Canada would be getting an exclusive beta for it and 1 vs 100 would be the first playable title on the new scheduled gaming platform. Yesterday Xbox Canada gave us and other media (including our friends at Toronto Thumbs and NextGen Player) the opportunity to preview this new feature for Xbox Live and tease out a little bit of information. Now that the embargo has lifted we can finally share what we’ve learned.
When Primetime snuck in to the news at the launch of the New Xbox Experience back in November last year, it sounded like the update’s most interesting feature, and 1 vs 100 seemed like an ambitious and unique title to launch. 1 vs 100 pits one player in a trivia gameshow against a mob of 100 players though the Primetime version will accommodate a larger number of simultaneous spectator players that also answer questions. How many? That’s one thing the beta is trying to determine among other things, of course.
